“Declaration House: Descendants of Monticello” Documentary, Set to be released early 2025


This short film follows artist Sonya Clark as she uncovers the complex and nuanced relationship between Thomas Jefferson and his personal valet Robert Hemmings, culminating in a powerful installation that honors over 400 individuals enslaved at Monticello—including Jefferson's own descendants. Through meticulous historical research and compelling visual storytelling, the project bridges past and present, challenging viewers to confront the paradoxes within America's founding narrative.

Major support for Declaration House has been provided by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage, with additional support from VIA Art Fund and the National Endowment for the Arts. Project partners include Independence National Historical Park and the Thomas Jefferson Foundation’s Monticello and its Getting Word African American Oral History Project.

"The Sojourn," commissioned by Fondazione Prada for their 'Paraventi' Exhibition and directed by Tiffany Sia, reimagines the martial arts genre through a distinctive lens—an action-less epic inspired by the works of kung fu director King Hu. Shot across Taiwan's striking landscapes and iconic locations from Hu's filmography, this experimental documentary premiered at MoMA and earned selection in the 2024 Toronto Film Festival's Wavelengths Program. The film creates a unique viewing experience that challenges traditional genre conventions while honoring their essence.

Written and produced by actress Callie Hernandez (Lala Land, Alien: Convenant, Blair Witch), “Marina’s Last, First Summer” unfolds on a desolate island; where the mundane summer job of a caretaker becomes the basis for exploring time, longing, and memory. Minimally shot, the short film captures the subtle beauty in ordinary moments,the film delves into the uncanny within the everyday. The production aim is to present a visually compelling and contemplative experience, showcasing Hernandez’s writing debut.

This short documentary delves into the third and most ambitious iteration of Ezra Masch’s breathtaking Volumes III (Big Bang) Project. In an empty warehouse, percussionists transform the space, playing a minimalist drum set intricately connected to a dynamic grid of lights. The film captures the creative process where rhythm shapes light and space, blurring the boundaries between instrument, sculpture, and performance.

The project, funded through a grant awarded to poet Catzie Vilayphong,
